Terms of use, privacy and refunds
Last updated: October 29, 2026
These terms explain how oblabla (www.oblabla.com), a service of Pablo Pluda, may be used. By signing in and using the service, you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use oblabla.
1. What oblabla is
oblabla is a service for learning languages by reading stories generated with artificial intelligence, with word explanations, audio and review tools.
It has a free plan, with usage limits, and paid plans (Pro and Plus) with more stories and features. What each plan includes is shown on the plans page.
2. Who can use it
You must be 18 or older. You sign in with your Google account or with your email and a password, and you are responsible for what is done with your account. Keep your password safe and don't share it.
One account per person. You may not sell, transfer or share your access.
3. AI-generated content
Stories, translations, explanations, illustrations and audio are generated by artificial intelligence. They may contain errors, inaccuracies, unnatural phrasing or imperfect pronunciation. Use them as practice material, not as an authoritative source or a replacement for a teacher.
4. What is not allowed
You may not use oblabla to request, create or spread sexually explicit content, graphic violence, hate speech, harassment, content that mocks or harms real people, or anything illegal or offensive.
You also may not try to get around the content rules or usage limits, use automated programs to access the service, or interfere with how it works.
oblabla applies content rules when generating stories and may decline to write anything that doesn't follow them.
5. Your stories
You may read, save and use the stories you generate for your own learning or in classes.
If you share a story by link, anyone with the link can read it.
Stories you create may be published in oblabla's public library, without your name and only after a review, unless you turn this off. You can turn it off for all your stories in My account or for each story when you share it. For stories that are published, you give us free, perpetual permission to publish them, display them and add educational material to them (for example, a list of key words, an illustration or audio). You can ask us to remove any of them at any time.
6. Moderation and removal
We may review, hide, remove or decline to publish any content, at any time and without prior notice, if we consider that it breaks these terms or is not appropriate.
Anyone with an account can report a public story. We review every reported story and remove it if it isn't appropriate.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
7. Paid plans and subscriptions
The Pro and Plus plans are monthly or yearly subscriptions. Payments are processed by Paddle.com, which acts as oblabla's authorized reseller (Merchant of Record): Paddle charges you, issues the invoice and applies your country's taxes. By paying you also accept Paddle's buyer terms.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (month or year) and is charged to the same payment method until you cancel it. You can cancel any time from My account or from your purchase email: you keep the plan until the end of the period you already paid for, and then move to the free plan without losing your stories or words.
If we change a plan's price, we'll email you beforehand, and the new price only applies from your next renewal. You can cancel before then if it doesn't suit you.
Unlimited word lookups and audio are meant for normal personal use. We may limit automated or unusual use that affects the service.
8. Refunds
If oblabla isn't right for you, within 14 days of your first subscription payment (or of a yearly renewal) we'll refund you in full, no questions asked. Write to hello@oblabla.com or ask Paddle by replying to your purchase email.
After those 14 days, cancelling stops future charges but doesn't refund the period already paid, unless the law of your country says otherwise. If a problem on our side kept you from using the service, write to us and we'll sort it out.
Refunds go back to the original payment method and may take a few days to show, depending on your bank.
9. Privacy
We keep what the service needs to work: your email (and your name, if you sign in with Google), your language preferences, your stories, saved words and reviews, the words you look up, the audio you choose to listen to, the approximate country you connect from (we don't store your IP address) and how you reached oblabla (for example, from which website or campaign). If you sign in with email, your password is stored encrypted by Google (Firebase): we never see it.
We use this data to provide the service, improve it and understand how it's used. We don't sell it or use it for third-party advertising. To measure our own ads we use, only if you accept it, the Meta pixel (see Cookies and ad measurement).
If you create a trial story without an account, to prevent abuse we count how many are created from each internet connection using an encrypted version of your address that can't be reversed and changes every day. We don't store your address.
We work with providers that process data on our behalf: Google (Firebase) for accounts and the database; Anthropic to generate texts and explanations with artificial intelligence; ElevenLabs for the audio of stories and words (with Google Gemini as a backup); Google Gemini for illustrations; Vercel to host the site and store audio and images; and Paddle for payments. We send them only what each task needs (for example, a story's text to read it aloud).
Your card or payment details are received and stored by Paddle: we never see them. From Paddle we receive only what we need to give you your plan: your email, the plan, the subscription status and your country.
From My account (under Account and privacy) you can delete your stories, words and preferences, or delete your whole account with all your data. Stories already published in the library stay, without your name or any link to your account; if you want them removed too, write to us.
Payment records are kept by Paddle for as long as the law requires, even if you delete your account.
11. No warranties and liability
oblabla is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from using or being unable to use the service, or for errors in the generated content.
Nothing here limits the rights the law of your country gives you as a consumer.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If the changes are significant, we'll say so on the site (and by email, if you have a paid plan). Continuing to use oblabla after a change means you accept the new version.
13. Contact
For any question, refund, removal or data deletion request, write to hello@oblabla.com.
