The Sock Monster

Ben and his sister Mia live in Sydney. They have a new puppy. His name is Biscuit. He is small and brown, and he loves everyone.

But there is a problem. Every day, a sock is missing.

“Mia, where are my socks?” Ben asks.

“I don't have your socks!” Mia says. “Where are MY socks?”

Their dad is looking for his socks, too. Today he is wearing one black sock and one white sock!

On Saturday, Ben and Mia look for the socks. They look under the beds. They look in the garden. No socks.

Then Mia hears a small noise. It is coming from Biscuit's bed. Biscuit is sleeping, but there is something big under his blanket.

Ben looks under the blanket. Socks! Blue, red, black and white socks. There are fourteen socks.

Biscuit opens his eyes. He looks very happy.

“Biscuit!” Ben says. “Are you a dog or a sock monster?”

Now Ben and Mia have a new rule. Socks go in a box, and the box goes on a high shelf. And Biscuit has a new toy: a big, old sock, only for him.
